Display Configuration
Control which fields appear in profile and application views, how sections are arranged, and how individual fields are shown.
Display Configuration controls how existing fields appear to users. It does not create fields. Use it after student fields and application fields already exist.
The main purpose is to decide what users see during daily work.
What Display Configuration Does
Display Configuration lets admins:
- Search available fields.
- Show or hide fields in the selected view.
- Organize visible fields into sections.
- Reorder sections.
- Reorder fields inside a section.
- Switch between Manage and Preview.
- Adjust view level layout settings.
- Customize the display of an individual field.
Use it when a field exists but does not appear where users need it, or when a view has too many fields and needs better organization.
Student Display And Application Display
Display Configuration has two contexts.

| Student display | The fields shown on student profile views. |
| Application display | The fields shown on application views for a selected pipeline. |
Application display can include both student fields and application fields. This is important because users often need to see student details and application details together while working through a pipeline.
For the Student Visa Processing pipeline, the application view can show student details such as name, contact details, and nationality alongside application details such as university name, deadline, offer status, and visa outcome.
Available Fields Panel
The left panel lists fields that can be shown in the selected view.

| Show | Adds a hidden field to the selected view. |
| Hide | Removes a visible field from the selected view. |
| Field filter | In application display, filter between all fields, student fields, and application fields. |
| Collapse panel | Gives more room to the section manager. |
Use Show and Hide for view visibility only. The field still exists even when it is hidden from the view.
Section Manager
The right panel is where visible fields are organized.

| Manage | Lets admins organize sections and fields. |
| Preview | Shows how the view will appear to users. |
| Field settings button | Opens display settings for one field. |
In Manage mode, admins can drag sections or fields to reorder them. Use Preview after changes so you can confirm the view is easy to scan.
Add Or Edit A Section
Sections group fields inside the view.
Section settings include:

| General | Section name, section key, and description. |
| Layout | Responsive column counts for fields inside the section and section width in the parent view. |
| Appearance | Collapsible behavior, border, header, header size, icon, and colors. |
| Empty Fields | Whether empty fields are hidden and what users see when values are missing. |
The section key is generated from the section name. Treat it as stable after the section is created.
View Settings
View Settings controls the default layout for the whole selected view.

| Tablet columns | Column count on tablet sized screens. |
| Desktop columns | Column count on larger screens. |
| Section gap size | Spacing between sections. |
Individual sections can override the view defaults when they need a different layout.
Field Display Settings
Each visible field can be customized from the field settings button.

| Display | How the value is formatted. |
| Layout | How the label and value are arranged. |
| Composite | Display settings for grouped or repeating fields. This appears only for those field types. |
| Preview | Shows how the field will look with the current settings. |
Display formats can include Default, Bold, Italic, Highlight, Badge, Link, Email Link, Phone Link, Relative Date, Full Date, Currency, Percentage, Pretty JSON, Markdown, Truncate, and Multiline.
Layout styles can include Vertical, Horizontal, Inline, and Card.
Good Display Practice
- Put the most used fields near the top.
- Keep each section focused on one purpose.
- Hide fields that are rarely needed in daily work.
- Use Preview before saving a layout for the team.
- Keep labels simple and consistent with the rest of the docs.
- Do not use display configuration as a substitute for cleaning up unused fields.
